Privacy Policy — Usage Meter for Claude
Last updated: July 29, 2026
Usage Meter for Claude is a browser extension that displays your own Claude (claude.ai) rate-limit usage — your 5-hour session percentage, your weekly percentage, and when each resets.
What data the extension handles
- The extension requests your usage figures directly from claude.ai, using the claude.ai login session already present in your browser. It never sees, asks for, or stores your password, and it has no login of its own.
- The response (usage percentages, reset timestamps, and your organization ID) is cached in your browser's local extension storage (
chrome.storage.local) so the display loads instantly. The extension also keeps a local time-series of those percentages (up to 90 days) to compute its pacing score, badges, and charts — all of this stays on your device.
Optional: syncing history across your own devices
The dashboard has a “Sync history across my devices” setting. It is off by default, and nothing is synced unless you turn it on.
- When enabled, the extension writes a compact summary of your history — completed usage cycles, badges, streak, a one-value-per-day usage summary, your language preference, and a random identifier — into
chrome.storage.sync. That is Chrome's own extension-sync storage: your browser replicates it between the devices signed in to your Chrome profile, using your existing browser sync settings. - The developer receives nothing. There is still no server, and the extension still makes no network request other than to claude.ai. The replication is performed by Chrome itself, under your Google account, governed by Google's privacy policy — not by us, and we have no access to it.
- The full 30-minute-resolution chart data is not synced (it is far too large for Chrome's sync quota) and stays on each device.
- Turning the setting off stops all further syncing. “Reset all local data” in the dashboard clears the synced copy as well, on every one of your devices.
What the extension does NOT do
- It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any data with the developer or any third party. There is no server component, no analytics, no telemetry, and no tracking of any kind.
- It does not read your conversations, prompts, or any content on claude.ai — only the usage/limits figures.
- It contacts only
claude.ai. No other network requests are made. (With device sync enabled, Chrome — not the extension — replicates the summary described above through your own browser profile.)
Data retention and removal
All cached data lives only on your device, plus — if you enable device sync — in your own Chrome profile's sync storage. Uninstalling the extension removes it. You can also clear it at any time via the dashboard's “Reset all local data” button, via chrome://extensions→ Usage Meter for Claude → “Clear data”, or by removing the extension's site access.
